In a construction, the TMT bars or HYSD bars are used?

Steel bars are very much important in the construction process since they impart the tensile strength in the concrete. Since Concrete is weak in tension and good in compression. So to overcome this weakness in tension steels rods were provided inside the concrete.

Difference between TMT AND HYSD.

TMT Stands for Thermo Mechanically Treatment rods and HYSD stands for High Yield Strength Deformed Bars. The Main difference is in the making ×which gives the the different properties.

Making

TMT - After rolled hot rods were quenched immediately in Water to cool down.

HYSD - After rolled hot rods were left in the open for cool down.

Properties

• Tensile strength - Due to immediate cool down of TMT in water it leads to a hard outer core and a soft inner core which provides a better tensile strength than that of HYSD Bars.
• Corrosion resistance - Because of quenching in water TMT bars gets better corrosion resistance. properties than that of HYSD bars.

Like this there are so many superior qualities TMT rods has over HYSD bars. Hence in construction now a days TMT rods were widely used in construction.
